These are the best noise cancelling headphones I've tried, although I haven't yet tried the Sony version, which has gotten terrific reviews.
But you have to understand how they work. They are meant to minimize constant ongoing droning noise, like in an airplane, or a machine room, or a trading room floor at the stock market.
They will not mask an intermittent noise like a barking dog or screaming child or the next door neighbors fighting very well.
I have an older pair of Bose QC headphones and also the latest Sony noise cancelling headphones (bought at Rakuten, BTW). The older Bose are better than the newer Sony.
I have a pair of old QC-3's for what seems like 15 years. They keep kicking and just work well. Not as many bells and whistles as the QC-35's but they speak to the quality of the QC line.

A: Who knows? They both had a pair of Bose QuietComfort 35 II Wireless Headphones on their head!

Thank you!
