FYI - Huawei factory warranty is worthless. Bought one of these week 1 and in 35 days the screen stopped responding. Sent in for warranty and they claimed water damage and sent it back un-repaired. Make sure to get a Squaretrade or other extended warranty with this brand.
When they due do work they are great values. My 3 year old high end Huawei still works great but the warranty scam experience with the Mate SE makes it buyer beware.

Huawei US customer service is pure çřąp. Known fact. Their service reps know nothing and have no clue what it means to be a good rep. I hope some of them read this. That being said, I bought a Mate 9 in Jan 2018 and it's never had an issue. Battery lasts a couple of days under normal surfing, and streaming while at work and a couple short calls here and there. No issues with apps crashing and regular Android security patch updates almost monthly. Do I worry about security risks, eh... Maybe a little. So far no issues. But as soon as a REALLY good deal on a brand new Samsung Note 9 or S9+ comes up, I'm out from Huawei. I'm hoping the S10 will cause s9 prices to fall faster.
It all kinda sorta hearsay. There's smoke, maybe... But the fire is still lacking. Just don't know if it's governmental pišşing contest or legit issues.
>> I am reluctant to purchase as both Huwei and Rakuten are hard to pronounce. And spell, too, apparently. Exactly. Howie sounds better. Maybe I'll buy when they change the name to Howie. Howie and Raccoon?.

I'm not sure. I know smoke is bad for your health.

Actually Huawei has the second/third position based on global market share.
