I stopped buying cordless drills years ago, because the battery packs were so expensive and I just didn't use it enough to justify it. It was cheaper to replace the drill than buy new battery packs. This one though looks good.. you should just be able to pop open the battery pack and replace the 18650s yourself, when the time comes. I'm in.

^ I can see the usefulness as a cordless screwdriver or for light duty use, but the thing about cordless tools is yes they cost more than a corded tool but the point is it's cordless, and you don't necessarily need a separate battery for each tool, could have two batteries and a dozen tools since you're unlikely to run more than a couple simultaneously, just need at least one spare pack to keep working with one while the other is recharging.

However replacing 18650 cells isn't necessarily just about "pop open the pack". Most have the cells spot welded together and you'd need the tabs and spot welder to do that. On "some" you might manage to solder them together but you're really not supposed to solder to battery terminals, especially with Li-Ion cells because breaching the vent from excessive heat while soldering can cause it to fail, possibly resulting in a fire, and even worse, the fire may not start immediate but rather later, after your back is turned on the cells so it can spread.

Best cordless drill I've used at home is the kobalt 24v max 1/2" hammer drill. Nothing seems to stop it, it can take a fall and got me thru several house boardups during hurricane season
