Love my Plex server and would have upgraded to lifetime scrip on this deal if I could have. Still, $40/yr is not bad and they continually add features so it's worth supporting at full price.
You can record OTA without Plex Pass for free with other apps. They are recorded in Raw format so the size can be larger but you getting full non compressed recordings. The free apps have 14 day window to record. Or you can use HDhomerun and buy their DVR service which allows to run on NAS at 35 per year. Unless your planning on recording a ton of shows the free DVR service works quite well. Emby coupled with a Tv calendar update program.
My issue...while there is a lot of OTA channels....most are not that great and my alternative choices with Slingtv and redbox and other sources provides more content than I need.
I can access my personal home media collection (movies, tv shows, music) and HDHome run live television feed from any device or browser anywhere. This requires some work on your part to setup.
I only use Plex to stream my locally stored files to my TV or phone when at home. I can't seem to find any additional use for myself. I'll stick with the free version for now.

"New subscribers only." LOL. Don't think too many current lifetime subscribers will be cashing in on this.
