I recommend to get
Amazon
's Blink cameras since the battery life is 10x longer and the setup is a snap. This is a skip.

I own several arlo's and my biggest complaint is that the max you can set it to auto-record is 2 minutes. If it picks up motion, 2 minutes. Audio, 2 minutes. There is a separate setting that allows you to record once the audio/motion stops, but that will also likely be under 2 minutes. Sometimes you want 5 minutes to see if the drunk who is stumbling through your ally is going to trip, curse obscenities, and give you reddit gold.

I bought 2 x of this deal from
walmart.
Both times the packages had CERTIFIED labels indicating that these cameras were either repacks from customer returns or refurbished my the manufacturer.

I've tried a couple of different kinds and this is by far the easiest to set up and monitor. The battery lasts about 2 months, which is great! I just wish the individual cameras weren't so expensive. The biggest selling point for me was not having to run wires all over the place and/or drill into the siding on my new house.

I have the blink cameras which are great but cannot filter out areas of frequent movement. Wind can set off the motion sensor regardless of adjustment.

I am looking for cameras that can record to my Synology NAS. Does anyone know whether the USB backup on this can provide a work-around?

I have the Arlo Pro 2 HD system with 5 cameras. Easy to set up and batteries last a long time if there is no activity. However, there is a 2 sec lag between the action and the recording but I don't find that an issue. I use it mainly indoors for home security.
