I bought the 8 pack of the Zircon leak alerts at , and one went off a couple of weeks ago. It turned out that a basement room was flooding due to a bad water heater. And, I was alerted within hours. A patch of carpet was already wet, but I was able to dry it immediately with no disaster recovery services required. I had to have saved a couple grand at a minimum (possibly more). The trick is to have multiple meters under sinks, near water heaters, near toilets, near basement windows, and so forth. I'm not kidding. This is probably the best $94 purchase you can make as a home owner.
My SmartThings water sensor has already saved the day once. And the myriad of other sensors also have had several real beneficial moments.
I am certainly not utilizing my system to its full capabilities yet, but bit by bit I come up with new ideas and alerts and ways to use it. Such as an alert if the garage door was left open for more than 5 mins, a window is open but rain is in the forecast, or someone accesses the hidden spare key.
This is version 2 BTW, it has a purple packaging because it has the extra space for the water sensor. What is version 2 mean? I have this kit from a little over a year ago but without the water sensor, wondering if the hub is any different.

Order online and be SURE you can pick it up at the store. Or, order online and get your SO to pick it up on his/her way back from work/gym/whatever.

Thank you!
