The 55" version of Vizio's P-Series TVs use an IPS panel instead of the VA panels used on practically every other Vizio P & M series TVs. Quoting cnet,
"Vizio also confirmed that, just like in 2016, the 55-inch member of the P series will use an IPS-based panel, not a VA panel like the others. In my experience IPS (in-plane switching) has worse image quality, in particular worse black levels and contrast, compared to VA (vertical alignment), so I will continue to recommend against the 55-inch P series. If you want a 55-inch Vizio, I'd go with the M series -- none of the sizes in the 2017 M series use IPS panels."

I thought the M series was the one with a IPS in 55 and VA in others... not the P. The P was all VA when I was researching. I bought a 65 M series from Costco because they had it marked down right before thanksgiving cheaper than the 55. Maybe I got it mixed up, but the LED difference between the M and the P should make up for whatever panel you get. All that aside... They all look the same when I was testing them in the store. I doubt it's much difference, they make a stellar TV for the price.
