There is a lot to be said for Dysons but for me the "Ball" version of any Dyson vacuum is a non-starter. I currently own a DC40 with the ball and it is very tippy even with the wheels fully deployed and locked, the wheels are difficult to deploy to get it to stand upright (they frequently don't properly lock the head unit and the vacuum falls over), and the cord too often gets caught in the support wheels even when they are in the UP position. With all their Ball vacuums, Dyson added an unnecessary level of complexity that creates more problems that they fixed. I had a DC14 (wheels, no Ball) for over 10 years and loved it - but I very much regret getting the DC40 with the Ball.
Which has never been an issue for me: Price is usually significantly lower; they go over them w/a fine-toothed comb and they generally come w/the same 'as new' warranty!
I have the Up14 (no idea the difference) also purchased refurb from Dyson via and absolutely LOVE it. It is powerful and totally sucks (in a good way of course).
Well if I hadn't just bought a used one for 125 I'd be all over this. I love the one I got. I literally look forward to vacuuming because how effortless it is to vacuum with this and am a little freaked out by what it picks up lol. My 78 yo father is also able to use it with great ease.
