Awhile back I bought several different models that were priced very low with free shipping! .. Perhaps at an introductory price or incentive for positive reviews.,,
These units are actually look like they are built quite well for the exception of ONE very important thing, & that is the heat-sinking on the LED board. There is not enough surface for cooling, a thin piece of aluminum gets quite hot. After two different models failed, I did a teardown and it revealed the flaw. I also did a teardown on a new unit and found the same excessive heat. If One LED fails, all lights are out. (they are in series) I have left these 3 unit aside and will NOT be using them. They were bought for testing (stress testing perhaps ;) and hopefully to get some use. They were used continuously for several weeks. However, I could not find anything in the manual that states a suggested "on time or rest time"...... Depending on which one you get, they actually look cool during the day & night. I can only assume they all have this issue, or they have hopefully solved it by simply spending a few more pennies on extra heat-sinking material.
My only suggestion is to use them for a few hours and let them cool off, perhaps on a timer. Or, just use them at night and the life MIGHT be extended.
It's "sad" because they look and feel well built, with a solid construction and thick polarized plug with what looks like a very well sealed and water resistant housing.
They have some that are quite dazzling and cute for almost any occasion, holiday or mood. I would NOT pay the full price and only if the shipping were free ;-)
