The Ipad 3rd Gen was first released March 16, 2012 and was discontinued October 2012. The launch price for the 64GB version was $699. So not a bad price.
The third gen iPads were the "dogs" of the line as they had issues with battery and heat as this was the first retina-type display. Suggest either getting a Gen 2 or Gen 4 and skip this one.

The Gen 3 that I bought as a refurb from Apple in 2013 for $350 is way more capable than my Gen2. Great price, great deal.
