I gave Freedom Pop a try this past May and my entire experience was a nightmare. This is basically a scam because in order to use the service they require that you install a app on your device that will randomly turn off your devices WiFi so it runs up your data til you go over the limit. They also charge a fee for every little service you get for free with every other carrier, Including simply being able to talk to customer service to cancel your account. The first SIM card kit I ordered didn't arrive so I contacted them to ask where it was and they sent me another that took an additional 2 weeks to arrive but started my billing cycle when the first one was supposed to have arrived. Then I stated getting billed for both sim card kits and the only way to get them to fix it was through email which took them 2 to 3 days to reply to each time. Then they would say in the email that the billing issue had been fixed but then I'd get double billed again the following month. I finally got them to fix the billing issue but it took me 3 months of going back and forth with them over their extremely slow email customer support system. The service itself was really undependable as well. To make a call or text basically requires you to use their app and the app will not connect to the network half the time so people try to call you and you never know because the app wasn't connected at the time so you're forced to constantly check to make sure the app is connected by restating your phone over and over again throughout the day just to ensure you aren't missing any calls. Please don't waste your time or money on this service. It's worthless.
I ordered the sims last week and have not seen it yet. The service started right after I ordered the sim, however. Two days ago, I went in and downgraded the service to fully free. Guess what? They charged $5 to do the downgrade. I will contact them to find out what's wrong. Last time I got a data sim (by mistake) but I successfully cancelled for free. You can call them. Google the company and the contact details come up.
I tried the 100% free plan and phone call and data streaming quality was so poor every time I tried that I gave up. Theoretically I still have free "service" but if you can't even make a decent phone call why bother with i? I figured it would be good enough to use as a backup for my pay-as-you go service but it's not even good enough for that. Fortunately I was able to get the free "service" without providing a credit card so at least I haven't been fighting billing problems.

Yes, they do mandate that you keep a $5 balance if you are not premium.
I'm savvy, and I've been using them for over 3 years now. I've literally saved thousands of dollars.
I pay $2.50 a month for voice mail. That's $30 a year for cell service. I won ultimate frugality!
They have/had a Sprint one, it's not good.
Thank you!
