^ A phosphate coating is superior to not having one when it comes time to paint, but the at-home DIYer will still get the best results using a metal primer before the color coat, regardless of that.
It is not a substitute for paint (or oil/wax/grease/etc) to ****** further rust but combined with a coating, is more rust resistant than without it.
If a phosphate coating is undesirable from a phosphoric acid based product like Naval Jelly, the electrolysis method using washing soda seems to be the best alternative to Evaporust/Rust911.
^ Yeah I've noticed more and more sites that won't even let me submit a reply if the word re**** is in it, which can be very annoying when it's legitimately used, after you spent the time to type something high quality and the whole post is lost... browser back button doesn't work on a lot of them.
Even worse is when you have no idea what was flagged and it doesn't even get posted or rejected for hours if not days. I no longer bother trying to post on Home Depot et al due to this.

I don't bother there, either. More and more sites are filtering bad reviews deliberately. I'm sure there are some manufacturer incentive dollars hidden around somewhere for this purpose.
^ but I'm not even talking about negative reviews or troll like posts, just using some keyword that trips the system or who even knows why the post was rejected, you're never told.
^ Interesting that they have different datasheets floating around with different specs, however that one still clearly states "Do not store at temperatures above 95F", which is lower than my garage reached for the last few days.

Note that the MSDS for Evapo-Rust lists a decomposition temperature of 95F, so you don't want to store it in a hot area.

Then they need to revise their MSDS (which is where I got the 95F temp) because I'm not going to believe it until they do.
Dave_C got filtered on his own site, love it!

I swear this said 195 when I looked at it last time, but it actually says 295F
