Actually a vehicle bike rack is usually larger and sturdier, when the type that hard mounts instead of using nylon straps and hooks. I could fit my bike in my SUV but putting it outside would free up the cargo area and allow leaving a row of seats up for more passengers.
Definitely one of the best home bike stands out there, and rarely ever on sale. Only one better is the Park Tool Pro model. Park Tool is the de facto standard for tools and repair equipment in the bike industry. Nearly every bike shop I have used for tune-ups, etc. uses park tool stands. This one is also nice because you can transport it with you on big group ride and race days.
Like with any stand, be careful how much pressure you use in clamping down, especially on carbon fiber (I actually keep an extra alloy seatpost to swap out when I need to clamp the bike to the repair stand).
