I've had 5 different brands over the years, not including the smart phone apps. I thought that the most interesting was a Navigon, but they couldn't compete on price in North America. I gave it to a friend in D.C. and she loves its traffic delay rerouting. As to TomTom, I don't really like the integrated mount, but others love it. It's a matter of taste and whether thickness counts when you take it out of the car. As to function, they all seem pretty much the same to me. There are minor differences in features.
