Typically you need to already have a fob to program the new one. Otherwise you have to take it to the dealer to program and it gets more expensive. So don't wait until you lose your last one to get a replacement.
Research your vehicle before purchase. They list it as compatible with 1998 all the way through 2014 while these two eras used remotes that weren't compatible with each other.
