POS company. They rip you off and barely answer any calls to cancel services.

I've been using them for close to a year now. Started with a phone on their free plan and now I have 4 devices registered on their free plan and no major complaints. I had an issue with a BYOP activation. I called them, they tried to troubleshoot with me but we got nowhere so they opened a ticket. We emailed each other a few times and then they refunded my money when they could not resolve my problem. Not bad at all I say!

Try and get an upgrade from a WiMax to an LTE device from FP. You'll hear nothing. FreedomPop is a completely untrustworthy company.

^ What do you mean try to get an upgrade? If you want a different device then wouldn't you just buy a different device?

To me it seems like people get too hung up on free versus fine print, instead of accepting that they have operating costs that have to be paid for somehow and that if you adhere to the fine print (and usually even if you don't) you won't find a cheaper cellular data plan.

Freedompop offers an upgrade. It's been on a number of news web sites.

http://www.fiercewireless.com/story/sprint-shutter-wimax-network-around-nov-6-2015/2014-10-07

"One of Sprint's MVNOs, FreedomPop, told Wireless Week that it has had an LTE device swap program in place for the past year for customers looking to replace an older WiMAX device. FreedomPop said it currently conducts a few thousand WiMAX device swaps per month."

^ In that case I'd assume they don't have either the manpower or stock to do it. They have to be operating on a shoestring budget to offer free service.

I called FreedomPop and asked them why they had not answered any of the multiple emails requesting an LTE upgrade. They said they were backed up "a bit" and said it was abnormal that they would not answer multiple emails requesting an upgrade that they've publicly offered.

If you are interested in an upgrade, rather than emailing FreedomPop's subpar support group who will promptly ignore your requests, call their customer service and ask for an LTE upgrade. From what I can tell, that is the only way you're going to get any response from FreedomPop.
