Nice price for a basic receiver. No network support (internet radio) or wireless such as Airplay. I'd like to see something like this in the $200 range with network support.
If you haven't noticed already these bargain sites are swarming with Onkyo receivers. There is a good reason. They have a high failure rate and no support from Onkyo. I speak from experience....just google it....
My own experience with Onkyo has been good.
I have owned Onkyo equipment since the 1980s (receiver, dual cassette, etc.), while I was a college student, and never had any problems with them.
Obviously I never needed their support, so I can't speak of that.
I agree that Wi-Fi, Internet, Internet radio stations, ..., is an essential feature now, no longer a luxury.
Maybe that's why this receiver is significantly reduced in price.
Probably something new, with such features, from Onkyo is about to hit the market, but I doubt that the price then would be even close to this one.
Gibson Guitar is officially own Onkyo, so when you call for support it actually Gibson techs supports are answering your calls, and they are not fully trained to answers Receivers technical questions. At time they will route you to level 2 techs if available. If your unit need a repairs, they have many authorized center you can look up on Onkyo website, if there's none, you can request a free shipping label. Repair usually take 2 weeks and up depend on parts and how busy the facility.
My aging Pioneer tuner-amp had a switch that wore out, so I replaced it with an Onkyo tuner-amp. The Onkyo is only OK, with its fidelity noticeably worse than the Pioneer.
BB must have realized the error and corrected it. Add was supposed to (as it does now) list the item at $349 and then show that you SAVE $150. The goofed up add (as posted on Ben's) said item was $150 and you SAVE $349. I wonder if they honored any purchases at the mistaken price?
