S30v is a great quality steel, but VG-10 is pretty good comparatively. Most would find AUS-8 to be a sufficient steel, and it costs considerably less.

I Have two Spyderco made in Japan. They are still sharp as ever after 10 years. If this is made in Taiwan.....I have no further comment....but it's worth the value if it's original.

I have a few spyderco’s. Might be one of the best made knives I have. Extremely well made with little tolerances - still opens as smooth as the day I purchased. Ones even 15 years old.
