So the "free" app is crippled to only work on the local subnet. For that, I'll stick with 2xclient and a port forward on my router. RDP is slow but good enough most times. Of course, be careful how you implement the port forward. I wrote a script that has me provide a login over SSL and only opens the port to my source IP for a set amount of time. Another option is a VPN but that adds overhead and latency..
