^ You can get a Samsung SM530-CF for $128 which AFAIK, works with any TV... though with a different brand the remote many not unify the two, may still need both remotes for some TV settings. It essentially adds smart features and can replace a cable co. decrypting tuner if you add a cablecard... tho' this latter feature only allows one way communication, no On Demand type features.
