About the only attractive feature I see in Chromebooks is the instant-on aspect. Still, modern versions of Windows are not too bad in that respect, if you don't have too many start up apps. Overall, Windows is just so much more useful, even if you're dealing with a smallish CPU and low RAM. Hell, I'd even take a Ubuntu based laptop over a chromebook.
I tried using a few low-end Windows-based laptops and they were all so slow I couldn't stand it. I'm using a Chromebook with a Celeron 3215U and I'm quite happy with it. The Atom or N series Celeron Chromebooks are much slower, though.
I don't miss Windows at all, especially since it's so easy to start a linux command line on ChromeOS using crouton.
yeah. to sum up all above comments. you pay for what you get. well, except apple, where you pay for half of what you get, and the other half goes to the commercials
Google dropped support for these in June of 2016, they still work but won't receive updates anymore. Unless you plan on loading Linux on one your money is better spent elsewhere. This series also had a high failure rate of the TPM chip in them which bricks them.
Chromebooks are fantastic if you just want to surf, much lighter and cooler running than a laptop, but this is a C grade, which means its had the hell beat out of it
