Thanks, @sxm. Interesting videos and articles. I couldn't tell from the Sabrent video whether the splitter was molded or not, so I can't form an opinion. I've never had a failure like those shown/listed in the articles and I've been working with Molex to SATA cables for over 10 years. In the early days, there was no choice but to use a splitter, since the power supplies only had 2 SATA power connectors and they were on the same bundle (which wouldn't reach from the HDD to the DVDR in a midtower case. One thing to remember is that this kind of failure is relatively rare.

i throw out all power adapters of that kind.
