Yeah.. USB 2.0 is so slow as to be rendered useless unless it's a just a few GB of data. USB3 can go about as fast as a magnetic HDD can go.

USB2 isn't a big deal for some uses. For years I'd gotten along fine making backups of a file server with a pair of USB2 Rosewill docks, where you just tell the system what to do and there is no particular rush. It's also plenty fast enough for multimedia streaming.
