Posted 2014-09-10 09:38:44 question: what's the point of credit monitoring for a credit card breach? say they have your card info and address, they would still need your social security number to open new credit accounts. So I'm not sure what this service is supposed to provide to the customer. I'm sure the credit card companies already knew about the breach and actively monitor for fraudulent activity. Perhaps they have your telephone number too and call to ask for you social...? I would be more concerned if you used a debit card as that is directly tied to your bank account and could pose more issues than credit card. also, debit cards usually don't offer the same protection as credit cards. but credit monitoring isn't going to monitor your individual revolving credit accounts for fraud, are they?
