What's the difference between this the Ooma VOIP devices I see on here often (other than the Ooma costing more)? Is the Ooma more reliable or have more features?

^The Ooma is more user friendly for setup but that's basically it. I've been using the Obi for 2 or 3 years now and it's been great - you can't beat free phone service and it's actually been more reliable than 8x8 VOIP provider I used to have.

I have one. It works great! A bit techie to set up but that actually is its strength. With Ooma you are tied to Ooma for service, and that may be fine for many. I hear it's better than most. With Obi all it is is a piece of hardware with no service included. You have to choose what service to use and set it up. I presently use VOIP.MS it's dirt cheap. I spend around $25 every 6 months. You can also tie Google voice into it and have free service if you like. Actually you can tie in two services like VOIP.MS and Google Voice at the same time. Just get a nice set of cordless phones (Panasonic) and you will never look back to Ma Bell. If they have Blu Tooth you can link in your cell phones too and still get your calls while they charge.

Have had the same unit for 3 years now and has worked flawlessly with Google Voice. When someone calls my google voice number it rings the house phone as well as the cell phone at the same time so I can pick up either one to answer the call.
