Just got one of these the other day because there's a bird that has decided it's going to spend the winter on my porch support column. Every night at dusk, it perches on a little ledge there till morning, unless someone scares it off then it stays at site B that night and comes back the next night.
It hasn't found the suet yet. Maybe I need a sign with an arrow pointing to it.

Try C&S hot pepper suet if you're able to find it. (I get it at home Depot for about $1.40 each.). I've tried a number of brands and types of suet in our backyard, and this is the one that the birds all gravitate to, almost without exception. (And as a bonus, it's also squirrel proof :-))
I've got plenty of hot pepper paste, grow them, but is it really going to attract birds or just repel squirrels? I don't have a squirrel problem, have oaks in the yard and they have a lifetime worth of acorns to eat every year. I wish they'd get rid of more of them than they do.
