I own a pair of these - they're snug in the toe. Had to go to a wide and up a half size. Some have complained they're waterproof fail - I haven't tested.
Merrell just doesn't fit my feet very well. :(. Make sure you to them out in a store first
Especially with hiking shoes/boots, you'll need to test-fit them and get either half a size or a full size larger since feet will swell during hikes and you don't want your toes hitting the front of the shoe which causes bruising or even losing your toenails. The REI staff members are really helpful and informative, too.

The waterproof versions will say "WP" - either using Merrell's Select Dry (or GoreTex). I prefer GoreTex for waterproofing since Select Dry isn't as good -- at least not in my own experiences. A little splashing is okay, but if you step into a shallow puddle, expect water to penetrate.

I used to wear Merrell shoes every day, but at some point the fit changed and now they rub on the insides of my toe areas. I can't wear them at all anymore. I've heard similar reports from others, so it's not just me. Now I buy Keens.
Looks like a good deal but I have to think that those who design hiking shoes have never used them, so they've never had to experience what a PITA it is to clean something with the mesh and all those nooks 'n crannies.
