I just use a cheap Home Depot 15 amp receptacle for my 20 amp needs. Never had a device that had an extra slot on the plug. If I did, I would install a install a single 20-amp receptacle instead of the duplex receptacle so that (2) 20amp devices wouldn't be used at the same time on a duplex outlet.
Actually, @Justanod, that's the way I mount my receptacles. That way, if a child playing with something conductive happens to slide it down in a not-so-well plugged in device, he just grounds himself, instead of making a large spark, melting the something and getting a well learned lesson.
If I had regular need for 2 ea 20 amp devices, I'd break off the tabs on this device, separating them into two separate 20 amp receptacles. Using 240V 12-3 w/ground would easily power them at 120V each.

The extra slot on means that it's a 20 amp and not a 15 amp.
