I have an Acer with the Pentium Gold CPU. It is surprisingly fast for every day tasks. This is an instant buy at this price. Probably sell out in one minute.

Be lucky if it lasts a minute. Beware, usually has these go live shortly before it's actually time. Start trying at 3:58 at the latest.

anyway - this is a HyperThreading CPU, so it's 2cores-4 threads.
and if you want a performance boost a year down the road, just double the DDR4 to 8GB and upgrade the SSD if there's space available on the motherboard. The product spec says " Internal storage: 128GB 2242 NVMe M.2 Solid State Drive", so that means the SSD is 22mm wide and 42mm long. 512GB and 1TB NVMe SSDs are typically 2280 (i.e. 80mm) so you'll need an additional 38mm of board space and the mounting holes - hopefully the motherboard can accomodate that form factor. 128GB is a bit cheesy to be of much use after a year or so.

The specs say the RAM is soldered. The SSD may be able to be upgraded.

YAH, he downvoted me. The fact is, I have a Pentium Gold and it works pretty well, not a gaming machine of course, but installing software is surprisingly fast. This thing probably has a dim awful screen, but I have a portable monitor for this price it is a steal.
I grabbed one. it will be a good general purpose CHEAP laptop. I made the mistake of buying that $199 Gateway Celeron. had to return it. It was DOG SLOW.

Hi scosgt,
yes 4GB is soldered down, but the spec sheet says there is an SO-DIMM slot available.
below:
Intel SoC (System on Chip) platform
12GB max offering / 2400MHz DDR4 (Celeron, Pentium Gold model) or
2666MHz DDR4 (Core model), dual-channel capable,
4GB memory soldered to systemboard, one DDR4 SO-DIMM socket

If that is correct that is awesome. I think you can also upgrade the HDD. The Pentium Gold is the same as the i3 with a couple of features disabled.
