Doubtful bunny ears will work as well because those are for set-top use while this is for pole mount/roof use. Higher up is generally much better unless the cable run to it is too long and you don't use an amp... but this has an amp. Just don't believe the 150 mile range unless you have a very tall pole and are good at aiming it, which may not be easily achievable because they spec "Remote controlled distance is less than or equal to 5m".
Set up a cheap Monoprice for a relative yesterday. Zero channel indoor. Put the antenna outside on the patio fence about three feet high and got more than 30 channels. Another relative uses a bunny ear and it works indoor. I guess it depends on the house structure and its location??
