They are a Russian company so that means they are not under pressure by the NSA to betray us. I can't believe I am looking to Russia for some liberty and freedom.
I share your concerns about NSA overreach, but if you think you can trust a Russian company with your confidential data, I know a Nigerian prince who has an investment opportunity for you.
NSA scanned your bits when you uploaded them no matter where your cloud is. Real security is keeping data offline on local storage, assuming there's no backdoor into Windows...
Saying that raises the prices for Prime members is ridiculous. I frequently search for the best price on an item and if has the cheaper price, then I log in and buy it. The price does not go up after I log in. I get things next day alot of times with the 2 day shipping and if I don't i always get it in 2 business days. I know that isn't the case for everyone, but for me is still the best deal most of the time.
^ What people are alleging is that is raising prices for Prime members by making free shipping part of the cost of some items for everyone including non-Prime members, while some Prime members state they already paid for that through their Prime membership so it is double dipping to pay twice for shipping regardless of whether that's the lowest price they can find the item listed for.
While I agree that they do this, that was the existing situation when people opted to get a Prime membership so it's not like a bait and switch is going on.
Hey mr2gts, doesn't "charge" you sales tax- your state does, and they always have. The states have just forced to collect their tax from you so you don't "forget". is making it easier for you to obey the law
It's not that simple, was also offering to collect shipping as a bargaining tool to get kickbacks for putting warehouses and other facilities in more states, and also doing this claiming they could get more shipping revenue by charging extra for faster shipping options... whether it be through more Prime accounts or just a straight extra ship fee from non-Prime members.
now charges tax in about 1/3rd of US states. They don't need a presence in 1/3rd of them to service their customers.
Technically we could say it's about obeying the law but at the same time I think we have to concede that a lot of online commerce occurs because people aren't eventually paying that tax, and many of those people feel that our state governments are black holes when it comes to taxation, that the more revenue they take in the more they'll manage to waste away, that increasing tax revenue isn't the solution.
