I'm thinking since I can put it anywhere in the house, another location might improve the digital antenna reception than where our TV is. This on top of the other features.

Meh. You really, really have to want to stay away from monthly fees, it seems nobody gives two craps about OTA coverage, sadly. Moving your antenna to a better location will improve things, of course, but it's unlikely to make a massive difference.
Check antennaweb.org for info on the coverage in your area.
I wouldn't waste my time with it, but hey, why not give it a try, you have 30 days to return it.
I picked one up when I cut the cord from cable. It works pretty well, but sometimes I have to reset my fire sticks to play stuff back. To answer the previous post, it records through the blips, sometimes with a drop in resolution. Also, I would put it someplace near your router so you can headline it. It really improved the playback quality for me.
Benny I had a lot of problems having to reset my firestick constantly. I know that a lot of times it cuts out wifi, or doesn't see it and it is a firestick problem cause no other devices were having any issues with Wifi, but since recently upgrading my router to an AX, I have not had to reset the firestick once. This is the router I got and my speeds have increased dramatically even with none AX devices:
I've played with these, but HDHomeRun definitely has my heart when it comes to OTA network boxes. I set my parents up with a pretty nice TiVo system as well.
