Years ago, I worked in a computer lab, and the workstation I frequently used was next to a large laser printer. I noticed that when the laser printer would print, a sickly sweet smell would come from the printer. It turned out to be ozone that was created by the laser.
It took me longer than I'd like to admit to put two and two together, but I eventually realized that within 15 minutes of smelling that "sweet" air, I would develop a piercing headache similar to how I hear migraines described.
Never in a million years would I put an ozone generator in my house.
Living Air Classic is the well known company for these. They work but you don't want humans or animals in the same confined space when these are running.

I use to fix these, its created by the high voltage corona wires (also used in photocopiers) the tech is suppose to replace the activated charcoal filter during the preventive maintenance period. PM Kit.
You should never be inside when the ozone generator is on, and wait until it's fully aired out.
You may not be aware, but almost all restaurants use some type of commercial ion generators.
They use them so you are not bombarded with the smell of food that can be overwhelming to your senses and puke. (alpine, Eco-Quest, Living Air)
