No you don't. I got one awhile back. It's pretty useless. Loses connection constantly. Don't buy.

I had a terrible experience with this device. To sum up: using it to start audible and then driving somewhere without cell coverage was a rage-inciting incident (Audible and Alexa volumes we're unpleasantly out of balance).
I regret trying to give the Echo Auto more chances and missing the return window (I even got it on sale for like $20).
