I've owned a couple of Cuisinart (as well as a couple of other brands) of grind and brew coffee makers over the last twenty years or so, and with really good beans they really can make a great cup of coffee. I love fresh ground and brewed coffee! But about 3 years ago I cut myself back to 1-2 cups per day and so a so-so tasting K-Cup makes more sense for me and I retired my last grind and brew to my storage shed. That aside, I'll share my long experience with this style of coffee maker. This style of coffee maker is great if you want to wake up to the sound of coffee beans being ground, followed minutes later by the wonderous smell of fresh coffee. Second, remember the saying "garbage-in, garbage-out", well it's just as true with coffee beans and unfiltered water. Good-fresh beans are spendy and for me were worth the money, but remember you'll be spending more than the cost of a pound if ground Folgers. Next, remember that flavored beans may cause a lot more wear and tear on the grinding bits. Finally, as much as I loved the convenience and flavor I've owned a bunch of this style of coffee maker over the last 20 years (preretirement) because no brand seemed to last much past 13-18 months of daily use before the grinder wore out. On the other hand my $150 burr grinder that I used between them still works fine.
