I'd rather keep my debit card info safe. Sonic is the most recent customer info breach.

just using your debit card at the ATM, gas pump or supermarket is just as likely to have that issue as at Sonic. Almost every time in use my credit card in Miami I end up with fraud and need to get a new account number and card. Fraudulent charges are credited to me and on life goes. I realize debit can be more complicated since it's real money and not a line of credit. but your risk of compromise is very similar at retail locations.

Seems like if you're worried about CC breaches then you'd have cash for mere $3 purchases.

Why use cash when a rewards cc will get you up to 5% back on food and you can take 30 days to pay?

How many rewards CC's is it reasonable to have and have to remember which to use for 15 cents @ 5% off? Regardless, I hope I never end up in a situation where I need 30 days to pay for a cheeseburger, lol.

I buy EVERYTHING on my citi double cash rewards card. anything in used to pay cash for, including monthly bills, groceries, gasoline, and homeowners insurance.... I get rewards for stuff I'd buy outright anyway, and just pay the bill in full each month. with normal non-rich-guy spending for a family of three I racked up almost 2000 of real dollars in reward cash.
