I'm on my 3th Canon Pixma printer, the MX922. I use the generic ink with these and the printers usually lasts about 2-3 years before the print heads get too clogged or the rollers too dirty. Maybe these printers would last longer using the Canon ink, but with with all the cartridges we go through for home schooling, we save a lot more money just buying a new printers occasionally. These printers have always worked well for us though, producing good print and photo quality.
We've been Canon-only (home + work) for many years, mainly because of the price of generic ink. Never a problem, and negligible operating cost. This unit is a terrific deal!
I've had canon cartidges refilled at Costco. I think they have all worked, but one time a cartidge came back much lighter than the weight of a factory-new cartidge. I can't imagine it's worth it to them to skimp on the ink; it can;t cost them that much more to fill it fully.
I must be a dinosaur, as I thought All in one's included fax capabilities. However, I checked the several sites and all in one now means scanner, printer, and copier only. Guess my printer is old as dust. however, this model is very nice as I now have this second "all-in-one" with the printer, copier and scanner. The ink is cheap enough if you purchase on or similar site, as if you print a lot you will go through ink. Cartridges are small.
Wish Canon would bring back rear-feeding for their consumer printers. Can't do heavier weight papers w/ their current consumer line. I like Canon and have had a lot of luck w/ ink from "Sophia Global" (no affiliate - just like their ink). Full set of carts for the price of one official Canon cart.
