It slows down as it heats up and doesn't perform as well as other solid state external drives. The NVMe is just hype, since the interface is USB.

The interface is USB C Gen 2 (~10 Gb / sec) which is twice as fast as the standard USB 3 (~5 Gb / sec) interface. The interface can sustain theoretical speeds of over 1,000 MB / second. That's very fast for an external, non Thunderbolt drive! Of course your computer has to have Gen 2 ports to facilitate it. (Many PC laptops have USB C ports, but they are Gen 1 and only provide standard USB 3 speed.) The drive will slow down to some degree as it heats up. See the reviews and videos on
