The interface is USB C Gen 2 (~10 Gb / sec) which is twice as fast as the standard USB 3 (~5 Gb / sec) interface. The interface can sustain theoretical speeds of over 1,000 MB / second. That's very fast for an external, non Thunderbolt drive! Of course your computer has to have Gen 2 ports to facilitate it. (Many PC laptops have USB C ports, but they are Gen 1 and only provide standard USB 3 speed.) The drive will slow down to some degree as it heats up. See the reviews and videos on 's product page. It is a very speedy drive for the price if you have a computer that can handle it.
