I have a version 2.0 and I agree with Seymour's comment with the 2" range. You can try stunning them from 1 to 2 feet then close in for the kill. Even so, I never seem to be able to fully kill them even at 2 inches.
I have version 2.5. Honestly I would not make the purchase again after using it. The range is not very useful. while it is accurate to 3 feet, its mostly useless at that range.
I enjoy my electric tennis racket fly zapper from Harbor Freight a lot more.
I used to put my grandmother's sowing pins (the ones with the big round balls on the blunt end), and use them as a dart in a regular ol' plastic straw! You can take out a fly from 5 feet away, at least, with practice!
Then, as a teenager, I took a 6 foot bamboo pole, drilled it out, and made darts out of those kabab skewers. You can take out a squirrel from more than 20 feet with that!
Then, I upgraded to "potato guns," with remote triggers... on tripods... that shot golf balls.
