I still don't understand why people pay over $150 for this kind of headphones,

These are nice for actual audio content but do not at all contain any of the active noise cancellation of the headphones you see on seemingly every airplane passenger. My headphones are used far more without audio than to actually play it (counter-intuitive). These also do not cup the ears but instead mush them down in a way that with protracted listening (I sometimes play music and I have a pair!) I find uncomfortable.
