In the old days, the 3-5 major TV networks had their own proprietary content. But your one tv carried them all. Then came cable TV with premium subscriptions, which almost did that.

Usually, Apple leads the market. Do I plug my Heroku, ChromePlay & Snap into my AppleTV hardware, so that I can watch Netflix, Hulu & Crackle?

It's great to see Cinemas responding with monthly subscriptions. Somehow, I don't see all this fragmentation resulting in energized independent films & theater
