Do you have to use it for 12 months or 12 own it and put it in a drawer for 12 months to get it unlocked?

Microcenter sells a refurb unlocked Apple 6S for $99. And a 6S plus for $139 plus tax. Both are able to run ios15. I just picked up two for my kids

It has to be a year of paid service. Occasionally you can find really slim plans for 365 days of service for tracfone on auction sites. Like 1200 mins a month for a year(~$60). As long as you use it in the tracfone family I think its ok for unlocking.
