I've owned the big brother to this Anker LC40, the LC90 (900 lumens and zoomable vs 400 lumens and not zoomable) for over 5 years. It is a very nice and solidly constructed flashlight. Both are single cell 18650 flashlights.
The LC90 is almost too bright for close in work so I'm tempted by this deal on the LC40.
To attempt to compare this less than $20 flashlight to others like Surefire, Olight, and Zebralight that cost $50, 75, even over $200 is downright silly.

?? The LC90 has 5 modes, if too bright on high, run it on medium.
For close up work, I'd rather have this Nicron N9. The magnetic tailcap and aim-able head are very handy for hands-free lighting where needed. It doesn't throw as far, lacks USB charging, and does not include a battery, but for indoor work these things matter less to me than being able to aim it.
