Many complaints about the smell - all of the 1 star reviews seem to involve the stench. Interestingly it does seem to work but slowly since it doesn't move any air. There's a 400W model for $80 - with or without an optional guard it's the same price. Guess it's worth a try in the chicken coop, they won't mind the smell.
