If you shop around, you will find it is often cheaper for a local repair shop to do an oil change on your car versus the cost of you buying oil and filter, even assuming your own time & effort is free!

Minimum $60 for the oil change at local auto shop using full synthetic oil w/ unknown brand and low quality oil filter.

Fortunately, my dealer is only $35 (regular sale with coupon) for 6 quarts full synth, oe filter and car wash. Not worth the effort to do myself.

$35 for synthetic oil change? I wish I would live in that area. Here the dealership charges $70 for it.

Nice thing about doing it myself is I can do it any time. The oil change shop isn't open at 3am.

Nor do I want those bozos poking around my car again. Last time, they tried to sell me a belts-and-hoses package. I asked how many belts my car had, and they explained how the one serpentine belt does everything and if it fails you're in so much trouble.

Except the gen-iii Prius has zero belts. Which is about the only car that takes this unicorn-jizz 0w20, too.

Pretty much every Honda built since the turn of the century is now approved to use 0w20 synthetic. Many were originally spec'd to use 5W20

I will almost guarantee your dealership is cutting corners if they are doing this for $35. I’ve caught many places not changing oil filters.

That's really a baseless statement.  Manufacturers routinely offer incentives to their dealers and reimburse for the extra cost.

That is why it is good to find a good shop and build a business relationship with them. You can guarantee them business and they can guarantee referrals and solid service.

I've recently noticed that many items from
Amazon
are cheaper other places. I think that because of their success people automatically believe
Amazon
has the lowest price. A Simple Google search often prooves otherwise. Just my 0.02

Sounds like the person trying to sell you a serpentine belt is a snake oil salesman. Probably did your oil change with snake oil, too.

I have found that
Walmart
beats
Amazon
very often. And returns are a lot easier.

How was this "posted 12 hours ago" when all the comments are from last time it was posted? Weird.

Regardless, I'm still waiting for mine to ship, having ordered it last time it was posted. :P

I bet $35 that you're getting synthetic blend at that price.
