Reviews say volume is low in loud environments and the ear pocket is shallow which hurts the ears if worn for several hours at a time.

I bought these at full price a couple years ago and use them for mowing the lawn and blowing snow. I've had no problems with them. Volume is loud enough to drown out the surrounding noise. It's logical that they'd limit the volume to levels that won't damage your ears on a product that's meant to protect your ears. I only use them an hour at a time and they're comfy enough, although my ears get toasty on a hot day.
