The clear coat isn't like a wax, is more of an acrylic polyurethane blend, as you can see on the ingredient label. That means you'll have to strip it off when it degrades, while if it was a wax, you could just wash and wax again which is what I do instead. I mean once you have refinished the lens, as a maintenance measure.
