The $5 is a promo credit so you don't actually get the $30 to use for most purchases. A "promo" credit can only be used on products sold and shipped by and not by any third party vendors. I've been through this BS before with and it is nearly impossible to find something you WANT to buy in order to use PROMO credits. Another thing is you do not see them in your gift card balance so you don't even know what you have until applies it (to your surprise) during checkout. You can CALL and ask a CSR how much you have in "promo credits" and they can tell you but otherwise good luck cause you'll never see them.
FYI you may not get the confirmation of the $5 if you are renewing an existing card balance. Many people are waiting to see how that pans out, assuming it will be applied in two days which it probably will but don't expect immediate credit to use for Prime Day sales.
Went with the balance reload (after clipping the "coupon"). Although I'm still waiting for the confirmation of the $5 promo credit, it appears to have worked.
Separately ordered a GC for someone else, tried to apply/enter the code, and received the following message: This gift card or promotional code has already been applied to your account balance.
