Dollar for dollar, this is the best flashlight you can buy. I've bought quite a few at an average price of about $2.50, and scattered them about my home, office, cars, etc. When they're handy, it's surprising how often they're used. Also, I've given away a dozen or more to grateful friends and associates.
THESE have two advantages over cheaper iterations of the same physical design. 1) Multiple modes (bright/dim/strobe) 2) Compatibility with lithium battery (nova-bright and longer lasting than AA alkaline)
However, brightness is measured in Chinese Lumens. With a fully-charged* 14500 Li-Ion cell, you'll get no more than 286 or 287 lumens.

You and I have a different definition of "advantage". I'd pay extra to NOT have all those stupid "modes" you have to cycle through, and instead just have a proper on/off.
I do have 2 flashlights that look identical to these that are just on/off but they're hard to find. I paid $5/ea. for them.

*requires a Li-Ion charger
