A traditional box-end wrench needs to be rotated up to 60deg (6pt) or 30deg (12pt) to engage a bolt head. So 12pt is easier to work with in small spaces. But for a 72-tooth ratcheting-end wrench, the rotation angle is 360deg/72 (tooth) = 5 deg. So WHY are these wrenches 12-point when 6-point would prevent damaging nuts or bolt heads? My guess is the manufacturer would rather have you round-off your bolt heads than potentially damage their fine-tooth wrenches.
